Other martial arts like karate or any art that focuses on only striking with the hands, elbows, knees, and feet would also be categorized as a striking art. A boxer or kickboxer focuses on power, speed, agility, strength, endurance, and the will to survive. Most competitors you see in these arenas are in excellent shape focusing on there strength, speed, and endurance for an edge over their opponents. Practitioners practicing set combinations with the hands, elbows and knees mixed with footwork to take the most advantageous position against their opponent.

Muay Thai is known as "King of the Ring" in kickboxing circles.  This style of fighting features punches, kicks, elbows, knees, standing grappling and head-butts to wear down and knock out their opponent.  Thai training methods develop devastating power, speed and superb cardio-vascular endurance as well as fighting spirit.  Muay Thai  training is also quite safe thanks to sophisticated pad training that evolved to keep fighters healthy between fights.  Muay Thai has also proven very effective outside the ring and has been embraced enthusiastically by practitioners of a variety of self-defense, sporting, military and law enforcement activities.
