Yi Family Internal Shaolin Kung Fu System represented in Irvine, California (Orange County) The Yi Family Internal Shaolin Kung-fu organization in Taiwan, the formal name of which is "Pa Kua Gate Society". Originally, this group was one of many secret martial arts societies that arose in mainland China during the Boxer Rebellion period around the turn of the century. Grandmaster Yi, head of the Yi clan, was the first person to open up the martial art teachings, known as "Internal Shaolin", to outsiders. In many ways, Internal Shaolin Kung-fu looks much like other external Shaolin styles, which incorporates beautiful graceful fluid movements with an aerobic flare. There are many traditional combat weapons that are taught within their system. However, there are some important differences: the Yi Family Shaolin Kung-fu System incorporates principles of Qi/Chi (internal energy), subtle bio-energetic and advanced mechanics, direction and control into the Shaolin hand and weapon forms. The traditional Shaolin forms and ancient teachings of Qigong is what makes this system so incredibly practical for combat and the practitioners health.
